I guess you're assuming Cecil is still there next season... Why can't they get rid of this guy somehow? |

Duclair I'd say for sure they should re-sign, to a 2 year deal.
Balcers and Wolanin should be with the sens too next year
I think gibbins may be willing to sign a 2 way deal, not sure how much demand there is for him any more. Otherwise I'd let him walk.
Lindberg I'd let walk too.
Is Hoberg ready to start in the NHL next year? |

Well I'm assuming that you are talking about Ceci not someone named Cecil. That said Ceci looks like he will be the 2nd highest paid player on the Sens next year. He has arbitration rights and if the Sens qualify him to retain his rights I believe it needs to be about a 10% raise.

Calling Ceci Cecil just seems so appropriate.

I think Ceci should be the new "C word", replacing c$nt.....just my opinion
calling people a "dirty ceci" just seems more insulting to me |

my opinion about next year is that any of the kids who can stay in the AHL should stay in the AHL........so guys like Brown, Brannstrom, Formenton, Chaplik, etc
why expose them to the poop show that will be this team on ice next year. it's going to be a horrible team, with horrible results.
I feel like dominating in the AHL is probably better for their development than getting their asses kicked in the NHL.
I suppose it's hard to say as we haven't seen what the off-season pickups are, or how good the kids play going into camp.....but if it looks like this team will be as awful as I suspect they'll be, there is no reason to expose the kids to that.
plus, better chance at Lafreniere if we don't |

Him being in the lineup next season is pretty much a given. |

Trevor Shackles: Which "Roster Audition" Players Should Stay Next Season?
Who should stay for next season too? - Trevor Shackles
Although we know Melnyk is a penny pincher, Dorion will probably have to go out and get a few free agents. I think a centreman and defenseman. We don't have alot of top six talent and I don't think that Brown/Batherson will be ready right away. Smith needs to be let go, and hopefully Ceci is maybe traded for an equivalent project |

kind of off topic, but anyone else starting to get a little more excited about that 2019 CBJ 1st rounder we have?
they have been playing like absolute poop since the TDL. as of right now it would be pick 15 I believe, but if they keep playing this way it's not impossible to think that could even get a couple of places better. |

Is my math wrong or does the suggested lineup in this article fall short of the probable cap floor for next year? Maybe that is why Ceci needs to be resigned? |

I think this is pretty accurate as to how it'll look next year.
Although, we are forgetting about Marian Gaborik, who still says he'll be back. Ben Harpur, Brown, Englund, Brannstrom and Chlapik could all make a run for a spot next year as well. I'd also say it's worth mentioning that the projections on Gus look quite well, He very well could be the future of Sens goal tending.
While I am beyond excited about our young prospects and I think the future for the Sens is going to be bright if they do it properly. I am very worried that these kids are going to be developing with no top end talent showing them the way. |

I believe that the sens have about 10 mil in cap space used up next year by:
gaborik
Macarthur
and the salary retention on phaneuf |

Loved the column. Thank you Trevor.
The recovery begins with a little bounce of hope.
Formentation, Pageau and Duclair.
Very fast.
Two guys in Formenton and Pageau who are strong defensive players and good penalty killers.
And Duclair, a guy who seldom visits his defensive responibilities.
Intriguing. Would like to see it. |

I still think a winger/centre free agent will be brought in (Brock Nelson?) and a depth/top 4 D to take the place of Ceci- its a pretty green top six, and our centre depth is horrid. White can play wing as well

$9,525,000 on IR from Gaborik and Mac
$1,750,000 for Dion
Last interview I saw with Gaborik is that he still wants to come back. |

they may move one of them to the RD position or trade Lajoie or Wolanin (trading Wolanin would be a huge mistake) for a RD prospect of equal quality. |

Don't worry Marleau to the Sens for veteran leadership after he gets his signing bonus on July 1.
Something like 1 million salary, for 6.75 Million cap hit.
Marleau retires, voila Cap problem solved. |

An asset has a negotiable value.
Picks, prospects and young players on entry level deals have enhanced asset value in the summer, especially for teams needing to get under the CAP.
You would want to believe the Sens will be looking to acquire a top 6 skater to help provide them with some veteran leadership and stability.
Love the prospect pool. But, they will need some help.

Actually makes some sense. But, wait to see what Tampa, Winnipeg and a few others have to offer up during draft week.

Not even the people close to Melnyk understand how this gets fixed. But, everyone understands that change is coming. |
